"Inverted Pyramid House"

cREATIVITY & DISRUPTION
BY PHILIPS STEVENS VIA DESIGNBOOM .COM

Makoto Takei + Chie Nabeshima unveil an inverted pyramidal structure to be built in rural spain: TNA the tokyo-based firm — is the latest architecture studio to reveal plans for a residence to be built in the spanish region of matarraña. following in the footsteps of office KGDVS, pezo von ellrichshausen, and johnston marklee, the scheme forms part of christian bourdais’ solo houses project — and initiative that asks a new wave of architecture practices to populate the remote spanish landscape with small resort-style dwellings.

Makoto Takei and Chie Nabeshima’s design for solo houses appears as an upside down concrete pyramid that has been partially sunken into the rural terrain. large apertures provide the home with daylight and ventilation, while internal living spaces are organized around a series of mezzanines or platforms, set at different heights. as the property is embedded into the sloping topography, guests enter at the dwelling’s intermediate storey — an elevated platform that overlooks the dining area below. "Game Of Thrones" Season 7 Finale

CREATIVITY & DISRUPTION
"Game  Of  Thrones"
Season Finale
BY SEAN T. COLLINS VIA  ROLLINGSTONE.COM

Two regents finally meet face to face, secrets (and bodies) are laid bare and the dead walk among us – what a helluva season finale. By the time the Wall comes down and the closing credits roll, 81 minutes have passed. But while it may have been the longest Game of Thrones episode ever, tonight's colossal season finale...

"The Dragon and the Wolf" – gets straight to the point, wrapping up storyline after storyline with ruthless efficiency. It forges alliances and breaks them, unites couples and splits them up, rewards some liars and punishes others. And most importantly, it builds up our hopes for a grand alliance against the darkness, then knocks it to the ground. In the process, the season finale deals out moments of happiness and horror straight out of the biggest GoT nerd's dreams.  Read Now the full recap about this amazing season final via Rolling Stone.

"Pablo Neruda’s Extraordinary Life"

  CREATIVITY & DISRUPTION
"Pablo Neruda’s
Extraordinary Life"
BY MARIA POPOVA BRAINPICKINGS.ORG

Pablo Neruda’s Extraordinary Life  in an Illustrated Love Letter to Language: A swirling celebration of one of the greatest creative icons of the twentieth century. Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda (July 12, 1904–September 23, 1973) was not only one of the greatest poets in human history, but also a man of extraordinary insight into the human spirit — take, for instance, his remarkable reflection on what a childhood encounter taught him about why we make art, quite possibly the most beautiful metaphor for the creative impulse ever committed to paper.

As a lover both of Neruda’s enduring genius and of intelligent children’s books, especially ones celebrating the lives of luminaries — such as the wonderful illustrated life-stories of Albert Einstein and Julia Child — I was instantly smitten with Pablo Neruda: Poet of the People (public library) by Monica Brown, with absolutely stunning illustrations and hand-lettering by artist Julie Paschkis. "Impact of innovation in the arts"

CREATIVITY & DISRUPTION
THE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC IMPACT OF:
INNOVATION IN THE ARTS

FOR  NESTA AND ARTS COUNCIL OF WALES

This document is a quick reference point to assist with identifying an evidence base for strategic and project planning. It is our intention that making the available evidence more accessible and widely known will help us in our aim of fostering a culture of innovation in the arts sector.

While there is known to be a growing collection of evidential documents and reports available for arts practitioners and organisations, in many cases these are known to be inaccessible or unobtainable (e.g. through paywalls or within archives). This document is designed as a selective review of evidence available, with a specific focus on what’s available within Wales. As such, it should be able to provide an easy-to-use, go-to reference source for individuals and organisations requiring evidence to support innovative arts projects. Evidence gathered is also aligned (where possible and applicable) to research outside Wales.

"¿Qué tan Innovador es tu Liderazgo?"

CREATIVITY & DISRUPTION

Today, August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun. Anyone within the path of totality can see one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights - a total solar eclipse. This path, where the moon will completely cover the sun and the sun's tenuous atmosphere - the corona - can be seen, will stretch from Lincoln Beach, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. Observers outside this path will still see a partial solar eclipse where the moon covers part of the sun's disk.

"Sustainable Design: Bringing the weather indoors"

CREATIVITY & DISRUPTION
  NEXT STEP IN SUSTAINABLE DESIGN:
Bringing the weather indoors

By Kevin Nute via theconversation.com

"BUILDINGS NEED TO ACTIVELY DEMONSTRATE WAYS OF LIVING IN HARMONY WITH NATURE." A building’s primary purpose may be to keep the weather out, but most do such an effective job of this that they also inadvertently deprive us of contact with two key requirements for our well-being and effectiveness: nature and change. In the 1950s Donald Hebb’s Arousal Theory established that people need a degree of changing sensory stimulation in order to remain fully attentive. And 30 years later, landmark research by health care designer Roger Ulrich showed that hospital patients in rooms with views of nature had lower stress levels and recovered more quickly than patients whose rooms looked out at a brick wall.

Several leading commentators on sustainable design, including Judith Heerwegan and the late Stephen Kellert, have suggested that in order to have any meaningful impact on the daunting environmental problems we now face, green buildings can no longer simply “do no harm.” Rather, they argue that buildings need to actively demonstrate ways of living in harmony with nature. Our work suggests that bringing the movements of sunlight, wind and rain indoors could make passive energy-saving features in buildings more obvious to the people who order and occupy them, and so greatly increase their usage.

"Exponential Business Model"

  INNOVATION & DISRUPTION
"The Exponential Business Model"
Lisa Kay Solomon and Patrick van der Pijl via Singularity HUB

How to Make an Exponential Business Model to 10X Growth:  Leaders often encourage their teams to think big and be more disruptive—but to follow through, people need new tools. We believe that learning how to design exponential business models is a discipline all leaders and entrepreneurs can learn. So, how do you design exponential business models? What Is an Exponential Business Model?.

A business model defines how value gets created and delivered in a company. It is an organized way of laying out assumptions about key resources, partners and activities of your value chain. These include your value proposition, customer relationships, channels, customer segments, cost structures and revenue streams. An exponential business model looks at the same key areas as a traditional business model—but it has radically different goals. Most business models are linear, designed to increase profits or decrease costs by 10 percent. With an exponential business model, we think in terms of changes that are 10 times greater or lesser than today’s value—the common shorthand for this goal is simply “10X.” Read this great article via Singularity HUB...
