World Changing Ideas is the chronicle a truly amazing group of people, who are exercising their creativity and ingenuity to dream up solutions to problems both global and local. Their work is hard and often thankless—but the benefits to the rest of us can be enormous. We want to honor those people and their accomplishments; That’s why we’re introducing the World Changing Ideas Awards; to acknowledge the truly groundbreaking among all the excellent ideas we see every day, —and, it seems, the entire world—we feel it’s important to bring more attention to the ideas that could move us forward, and to elevate the people who quietly spend every day working for the betterment of society and the planet. We’re pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 World Changing Ideas Awards. World Changing Ideas, now in its second year, celebrates businesses, policies, and nonprofits for their creativity, boldness, and potential for real impact–especially poignant in a year where any progress has seemed, at times, impossible. See the winners–picked from nearly 1,400 entries–of our awards: an impressive list of 12 companies, initiatives, concepts, and projects that are poised to help shift society to a more sustainable and more equitable future. Below, you can see the winners in 12 different categories. Each category was judged by a jury of prominent social entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, thinkers, and designers, plus a Fast Company editor. The winners were picked from a list of 240 finalists, which were chosen from a pool of nearly 1,400 total entries.

They will work with Fast Company and Co. editors to select the finalists and winners in each of the 12 categories. Entries will be judged on their scope, their impact and potential impact, their scalability, their originality, and their creativity.
