You Can Fold Up These Nearly Unbreakable Solar Panels And Take Them With You: Conventional solar panels “are brittle because they’re crystalline,” Murat Okandan, CEO of mPower Technology, the startup making the new technology, tells Fast Company. “If you bend or flex them, at some point they’ll just break and shatter. By making our cells small and then interconnecting them we’re able to make them almost unbreakable.”
 
A typical solar panel–more than five feet long and encased in glass–isn’t exactly portable. But a new type of solar technology, miniaturized so that each cell is the size of a piece of glitter, could be used anywhere. The tiny cells are made from high-efficiency silicon, like standard solar panels. But the new form means that they’re not only small but flexible, and can be folded up for transportation, incorporated into clothing, or easily used in electronics.

MIVOS es un sistema que permite traducir en tiempo real el lenguaje de señas generado por una persona sorda-muda a un audio de voz, a través de la cámara de un celular o de computador. Permite así que las personas sordas-mudas pueden conversar. Del mismo modo, el sistema escucha la respuesta por voz de una persona no sorda-muda y la traduce al lenguaje de señas. MIVOS permite libremente a cualquier persona sordo-muda comunicarse mediante la voz, logrando así una integración real con el mundo y a bajo costo (MIVOS también permite traducir películas en tiempo real a lenguaje de señas). Este sistema tendría un impacto directo en las comunicaciones de las 360 millones de personas que sufren pérdida auditiva en el mundo, según datos de la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Cities Should Think About Trees As Public Health Infrastructure:  Urban trees remove enough particulate matter from the air to slash up to $60 million in healthcare costs. Planting trees is an incredibly cheap and simple way to improve the well-being of people in a city. A novel idea "Public health institutions should be financing urban greenery to support well-being and air quality."
 
Think of a tree-lined street in the midst of a busy city. It feels like something of a treasure: hushed, cool, and sheltered from noise and sidewalk glare. These leafy streets cannot afford to be seen as a luxury, argues a new report from The Nature Conservancy. Trees are sustainability power tools: They clean and cool the air, regulate temperatures, counteract the urban “heat island” effect, and support water quality and manage flow. Yes, they look pretty, but they also deliver measurable mental and physical health benefits to concrete-fatigued city dwellers. So with evidence to back up all the benefits of urban greenery, TNC set out to answer, in this report, the question of how cities can develop innovative financial structures and policies to plant more trees.

A años de la última temporada de Caiga Quien Caiga (CQC), el irreverente programa de contingencia política reapareció de la mano de las redes sociales de WOM como un rayo inesperado en las últimas elecciones primarias de Chile... CQC tuvo un formato único al ser un noticiero irreverente, reportando noticias de diversas índoles y especialmente de política, molestando a los entrevistados con preguntas indiscretas, al punto de ser insultados o hasta golpeados por estos.   Y ahora a vuelto en las ELECCIONES PRESIDENCIALES CHILENAS 2017 a la TV Abierta de la mano de WOM & Chilevisión, sorprendiendo a políticos que se habían acostumbrado a no ser incomodados de manera tan ácida y directa.

CQC por su acidez y frontalidad  a enfureciendo y dejando sin habla a altos personeros de la clase política, cumpliendo uno de los objetivos primordiales de Caiga quien Caiga:  poner en aprietos a los protagonistas de la contingencia del país y levantar temas relevantes para los chilenos, con una cuota de humor. En estas elecciones presidenciales 2017, reaparecieron los noteros de CQC, los que vuelven a hacer de las suyas y este lunes volvió este recordado programa, en esta ocasión a través de las pantallas de CHV y el canal de Facebook de WOM. El trío encargado de animar el espacio televisivo estuvo fue Sebastián Eyzaguirre, Jean Philippe Cretton y Gonzalo Feito, quienes mostraron la jornada de las elecciones desde un tono irónico y lúdico.
