En la actualidad, aproximadamente 4.000 millones de personas viven en urbes y se espera que en 2050, este número ascienda a 6.500 millones. Para saber cómo hacer frente a los problemas que esta tendencia puede causar, Economist Intelligente Unit, en colaboración con AkzoNobel, ha lanzado un nuevo informe que explora la forma en que estas ciudades pueden adecuarse a sus habitantes para dar mejor respuesta a sus necesidades.

Internet.org es una asociación entre Facebook y seis empresas de telefonía móvil (Samsung, Ericsson, MediaTek, Nokia, Opera Software y Qualcomm) que pretende acercar el acceso asequible a Internet a todo el mundo mediante el aumento de la asequibilidad, el aumento de la eficiencia, y facilitar el desarrollo de nuevos modelos de negocio en torno a la provisión de acceso a Internet.

El proyecto de Mark Zuckerberg llega a Latinoamérica con la promesa de darle internet gratis a poblaciones largamente excluidas y los Estados reciben la iniciativa con los brazos abiertos. Pero ¿puede ser Internet.org una política pública viable?.

"The Nearly Guilt-Free Hot Shower, Provided by EcoDrain"

Do you enjoy a good hot shower? Who doesn’t, right? But any good greenie knows that you’re also using up precious resources: not just water, but also energy. Water heating’s a pretty energy-intensive proposition, as water itself can absorb an awful lot of heat… so it takes lots of energy (relatively) to get it to the temperature necessary for that steamy shower.  And that’s all you get for that energy: once that water heads down the drain, the heat and energy goes with it. That hot shower doesn’t just feel luxurious… it is!

What if you could recapture and reuse some of that heat energy? The technology’s actually existed to do this for some time, but mostly at large scales. There are options for your shower water, but they’ve traditionally been expensive and fairly inefficient.

Who’s ready for Coachella this year? Coachella showcases popular and established musical artists, as well as emerging artists and reunited groups. Coachella  Live on official Streaming via Youtube  un-leashed by T-Movile,  The first Weekend: April 10-12 and  second weekend: April 17-19.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (commonly referred to as Coachella or the Coachella Festival) is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, located in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. It was founded by Paul Tollett in 1999 and is organized by Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Live. The event features many genres of music, including rock, indie, hip hop, and electronic dance music, as well as art installations and sculptures. Across the grounds, several stages continuously host live music.

Most of the solar-powered schools we’ve encountered have sprouted up in the developed world, driven by a desire for lighter environmental impact, lower electric bills, and additional educational opportunities provided by the technology itself. In the developing world, though, solar power may be the only way to provide educational opportunities that require electricity: political unrest, poverty, and lack of development all keep power grids from expanding into remote areas in many parts of the world. For young people in those places, that means the chance to learn about the latest technologies are limited… if they’re available at all.

A world where food is plentiful and drugs are personalized may not be as far off as it seems. What world-changing scientific discoveries might we see by 2025? Will we have more energy technologies that move us away from fossil fuels? Will there be cures for cancer and other diseases? How will we get around and communicate?. To make some predictions, the Thomson Reuters IP & Science unit looked at two sorts of data: current scientific journal literature and patent applications. Counting citations and other measures of buzz, they identified 10 hot fields, then made specific forecasts for each.
